Foraged Brewing is a fictional brand I made up. It’s a female owned and operated brewery based in the Comox Valley. They offer elevated botanical infused, nature-inspired beer that incorporates locally sourced ingredients. They also feature limited edition brews that are collaborations with Vancouver Island based farmers, foragers and nature-lovers.
From logo design, to stationary, typography and packaging—this project has it all. This is an ongoing study, with more fun additions glistening on the horizon. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are HEAVILY used here. Needless to say, I feel less frightened now to open Adobe Photoshop.
THE IDEA
Foraged brewing was created as a female owned-operated botanical brewery based in the Comox Valley. They strive towards sustainability and collaboration, working with local farmers and local ingredients. Every beer is a flavour of the region and aims to gather a community of nature-loving, locally supporting beer enthusiasts.
Originally inspired by a book about the bayou, I wanted to created a brewery that sought inspiration in the tiny details of our big world. We had to take into consideration the design and styles of like-minded competitor breweries as well, ensuring our product has a voice and face of it’s own.
THE BRAND
From ideation to each revision—every detail aims to explore the nuances and inspirations of nature. Texture, line, shape, tone and form all unite together to create a holistic experience of the senses.
The logo was designed originally with a heightened focus on organic line. This transformed into the delicate web of natural materials which exist and create the foundation of Foraged products.
Color was a battle as the earthly rooted needs conflicted with the feminine and airy vision I had going into the branding of the brewery. Ultimately, deep browns and greens trumped the logo design but were soon met with their maker during the packaging stages of this project.
THE DESIGN
As this is an ongoing project, each design is continuously changed and tweaked. There are more revisions on the horizon and who knows where it will go.
